Alaska Trip

I have to admit that I wasn't as excited about this trip as I could have been. I HATE cold weather. I hate flying. Mike is more Jason's friend than mine. Nine days was a long time to be away from the girls. The flight up... We flew standby. NEVER FLY STANDBY ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY, OR MONDAY. Bumped off 4 of 5 flights. Spent the night in the airport. Hey, we always complain that we don't get enough adventure. Monday morning comes around. Bumped off another flight. Not fully panicking. Make it onto the next flight to Minneapolis. Make it to Minneapolis, find our gate, go find some food. Everything's going fine. A little stressed, but nothing bad. And then... The standby list shows a family of 7 in the first 7 spots. What. The. Hell. That's when full blown panic sets in. I have to actually get up and go to the bathroom because I'm crying. We've already missed a day in Anchorage. And now this? The woman at the desk says the family of 7 will be called once and only once. So they start boarding. The standby list gets longer. Something like 22 people on the list, not near that many seats. Finally gets time to board standby. Family of 7 is called. And no one answers. She moves on. More people get called. No one shows up. A few people get called and board. More people get called. No one answers. They call us. Jason walks up there and asks how many. She tells him she has enough for us, so grab our stuff. I just start shoving stuff into bags and we run to the door. I cry and shake the whole way to the plane. Get on the plane and realize there are 3 seats per row. Jason is center seat on one, I'm aisle on another. The guy in the aisle seat by Jason realizes that we're together and swaps seats with me so that we can sit together. Flight is pretty smooth, just long. We get there and suddenly it's daylight again. Craziness. Find our bags that got there the day before. Then go find a taxi. Of course we get the guy from Somalia that's only been in country 4 days. Who of course doesn't have GPS. Figures. Jason has just enough charge on his phone left to get us to Mike's house. The drive was gorgeous. Mountains everywhere that still had snow on them. And it was broad daylight out. Hard to believe it was after 9 pm.

Countdown: 4 Days

The countdown is on. Alaska bound in 4 days. Huge thanks to my parents for keeping the girls. Huge thanks to Robin and Johnny for buddy passes. Huge thanks to Mike for a place to stay, a car, bikes, and everything else that comes along with this trip. When this was decided New Year's Eve, June seemed so far away. Now, we're leaving Sunday afternoon. And it's Wednesday night. I'll miss my girls. But they'll be busy being spoiled rotten at Meme and Papa's. Now to just get over my fear of flying...

Sad, sad times

We've been dealing with some sad times around here. Audrey's teacher died April 29. She had cancer and she fought hard. She stuck it out until the weekend after the official last day of school. Audrey hasn't been told yet. We're going to wait until after the last day of school this Friday. The school hasn't told the other kids so we don't want Audrey to be the one to go tell everyone. I can only hope that Audrey grows up to be even half the woman Mrs. Maria was. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/onlineathens/obituary.aspx?pid=157353311

A few months behind

So it's already going on the end of April. CRAP. How do I stay so far behind? Audrey is still doing AMAZING in school. She's been diagnosed with ADHD and has been put on medication. Was definitely an "ah-ha!" moment for our family. And all the people with nasty comments about medicating my child need to mind their own business. It's not fair for her to have a mind that goes so fast and so disorganized that she can't function. We're not parenting by medicating. We're medicating so that her "brain works again". (Her words.) She's completely blown Success Maker and Reading Eggs out of the water. She's between 2nd and 4th grade on her work. Like I said. Amazing. (And horribly frustrating.) Amelia is still working on talking. But I'd put her up against any other kid her age in regards to being able to understand, follow directions, and physical abilities. And she's just as adorable as ever. Some days it's a good thing she's cute. She's such a mess. SO stubborn. We had a meeting for the parents of rising kindergartners today. I'm not sure I have much faith in the school she'll go to. The complete lack of professionalism with those teachers today just put a bad taste in my mind. Thankfully we're working on getting out of Athens. Jason and I are looking into buying a house in Dacula. You know your husband loves your family when the idea of buying a house in the neighborhood behind them is a great idea. I know it won't be new. I know it won't be designed the way I'd choose. I know it will probably need some work. But to have a house of my own. For my kids to be able to grow up in a house, in one place. For me to be able to send my kids to better schools. It's hard to believe that Jason and I will be married 3 years in just a few weeks. Some days it feels like forever, some days it feels so much shorter. We're planning our trip to Alaska in June. I can't say that I'm totally thrilled about it. I'm a beach person. But I realize that it's probably a once in a lifetime trip. And it's kind of fun that he's taking me on a visit to see Mike instead of going by himself. And yep, that's about all I really care to sum up the last few months.

I wish people understood the stress

There is one thing that just pisses me off to no end.

When I sit there and talk about Audrey and her school work, I'm not necessarily bragging. People think it's so great and wonderful and that we're so lucky to have a kid so smart. And then they think I'm rubbing it in their faces.

People don't realize that some days, I'd give anything to have a "normal" child. Or even just a "smart" child.

People don't realize the stress this puts on us. Mentally, emotionally, and financially. People don't realize the stress this causes just simply putting her on the bus every day. The stress of private school vs. public school. And knowing that in her case, neither is really any better. People don't realize the amount of books, workbooks, notebooks, pencils, school supplies in general that she goes through at home. Just her working because she wants to. The places we take her so she can be exposed to different people, places, ideas, foods. And just generally having a child that people, you included, have no idea of what to do with.

Sure, she's finishing up second grade work. According to state set standards. Which is fantastic. But at the end of the day, she's still just 5. And not mentally on the going into 3rd grade level. So public school or private school, she's still too young to advance that far. Which leads us to even more problems.

At least for next school year we can go in armed with names of teachers to request and names of teachers to avoid. And since she's already in the school system and has been tested by all the higher ups, they already have files on her to back up our requests. And can bump her around into the gifted programs and even half days in higher grades.

But I wish people understood how stressful this is. It's not all fun and games and "my kid is so smart" without a price tag of many kinds.

Quickly playing catch-up

So since I haven't written anything since May and I'm not sure where I left off...

Spring...
Audrey played soccer. Her coach was horrible. They never won any games. Audrey had fun. That's all that matters.

We took a few adventures. Went to Washington Farms and picked strawberries. Lots of trips to the park. Explored around Athens a bit.

Got felony burglaried 3 times by the 14 year old girl next door. Never had enough proof to "get" her.

Summer...
I think the main highlight of the summer was our week long vacation to Jekyll Island with my parents. Jekyll Island--beach, Sea Turtle Center, 4H center, historical district, best fried okra in the world. Saint Simon's Island--lighthouse, Coast Guard museum, Gnat's Landing.

Started selling Thirty-One Gifts. Looking back, wish I had done this long before. Fantastic women, great products, don't have to limit who I talk about it to... And much more money coming into our family.

Fall...
Audrey started school. Definitely the highlight of the fall. Thanks to a woman Jason works with, we got connected with the pre-k registrar for the county. She got us into the HT Edwards Early Learning Center. We were placed with the absolute most amazing teacher in the world. She has had Audrey tested, tested, and retested. She's brought in specialists, coaches, other teachers. She's brought in supervisors from the county. When Audrey goes back to school tomorrow she will be working through SuccessMaker. She's got a profile for Reading Eggs. By the end of the school year, Audrey will be finished with second grade. At 5.

Audrey's tying her shoes and riding a bike with no training wheels. This happened sometime around her birthday.

Audrey's party was uneventful. Considering. Sent out invites, same group came as usual. Fine by me. (Next year we won't send out invites and the drama will start.) Mr. Henry brought his horse, Stroller. The kids had pony rides. I made Audrey a Cinderella doll cake. Learned fondant sucks. Especially when you don't have a rolling pin. Oh well. Kids loved the cake.

Thanksgiving came and went with no drama this year. About damn time. Us, my parents, Paige and Jerry's group, and Grandma Gloria and Grandpa Wayne. Dinner. My dad and Jerry played some guitar video game. Jason played some video game with Cameron. The girls colored. My dad and Grandpa Wayne talked motorcycles. The rest of us sat around and talked.

Winter...
Won a photo shoot thanks to a picture I took of Jason and Amelia on the beach at Jekyll Island. Had our family pictures taken up in Colbert at the depot. So much fun. And she got some super cute pictures too.

Day before Christmas Eve we had Christmas with Memaw, Aleece, Hans, and the girls. So good to finally be able to get together with them again. Roasted chicken from the grocery store, fried chicken from KFC, I made green bean casserole and asparagus casserole, we had mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, bread, cherry dump cake, snickerdoodles, no bakes... We ate until we were stuffed. The girls played, opened gifts, played some more. Mom, Dad, and Audrey took Memaw back home. Jason and I installed a doggie door storm door for them.

Christmas Eve--Spent most of the day and most of the night at Grandma Gloria's. Audrey and Zoe played and fought and played and fought. Only one incident. But everyone else made it out to be a bigger deal than we did. Then again, we're used to the obvious discrimination so it didn't even phase us. But it didn't go unnoticed and made it's way to the radar. So now we can just sit back and laugh. Because I won. And will continue to be the winner.

Christmas Day--Spent Christmas Eve with my parents so we got to wake up, do presents, have real breakfast, the girls played, we just hung out. Just enjoyed our time. When it was time to start heading back to Athens, we went and hung out with Donnie for a bit. Super cool present--Marquis by Waterford Shelton bowl. Once all the Christmas stuff comes down it will be the highlight on our fireplace.

Day before New Year's Eve--I finally got my ears repierced. Jason was in the shower and out of nowhere I decided it was time. So I go upstairs, tell him what I want. I rarely see him move that fast. He was so excited that I wanted to wear earrings again. So I am now the proud wearer of 3 mm stainless steel balls. No gold for me. Had to learn the hard way after years upon years of ear pain. I don't think I've worn earrings since my wedding to Audrey's father. But now they're back. And Jason's excited. Now he gets to buy me earrings too.

New Year's Eve--Spent in Blairsville with Mike, his mom, Kate, Jason, and the girls. The drive up Blood Mountain sucks. But the company was fantastic. It's always good to know that your presence is appreciated. And more fun when I can add to the conversation.

So now it's 2012. And where does that leave us?

Goals have been set.

Among them--ALASKA in June or July. I guess I've got to get on with the selling of the purses!

And with the selling of the purses comes me being more financially supporting in the family. I'm tired of Jason doing it on his own.

So here's to a good 2012. Because after the shit that went on in 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007 I think we're about due for an upturn. The pieces are all there. Now to just get them to fall into place.

I'm finding it quite hilarious at the number of hits this gets. Really? There is nothing of any real importance written on here. Can we say stalker?! Especially since I can see the amount of views for each post.

A few things I enjoy...

Clean laundry. Even though getting it put up is a whole different story. I HAVE to have white plastic hangers. Jason could care less, so he gets all the reject hangers. Then you have the girls... They have to have the small hangers. And I've bought a few of the wrong brand so not only do they not match, but they don't fit right on the bar thing in the closet. And THEN all the clothes have to hang a certain way. Poor Jason just can't win when he tries to help with the laundry. (That's okay though because as long as he does dishes even occasionally, it more than makes up for it.)

A good book. But since I can't really decide which genre I like the best, it's hard to pick and choose. I will have to say that The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Domingue is one of my favorites. And I can't even really put a finger on why that is.

A good burger. This always seems to surprise people. With as small as I am, I very much enjoy my food. To me, a good burger needs to have any of this: a good sauce (Jack Daniels is a favorite, BBQ...), avocado, red onions, no ketchup (can't stand it, won't eat it), a good bun (not to thick, not to tough, Publix makes a good French bun that is fantastic lightly toasted with a little bit of butter on the cut sides).

Being able to figure things out without having to pay someone. Between Jason and I, there's not much we can't do on our own. I've even started making hairbows for the girls. Which saves a ton. I'd known how much they cost but never really paid attention. Makes a huge difference when I can make 4 or 5 for less than $3. It about killed me the other day when Jason paid $66 for an oil change for my car. If he'd had time and the tools up here, I doubt it would have cost near that much. He's even installed the HVAC stuff for the houses up here. Well, still waiting on mine.

Pictures on the walls. I could probably go a bit overboard with this. But I'm not overly sure I care. I like being able to see my kids on the wall and how they've grown. We have a bunch up already and I have 2 more stacks to go. And that doesn't even count the ones of Audrey as a baby that won't even go up. (Ugh.) And then I keep taking them to have more pictures taken. Then I print out pictures I like that I've taken. I need bigger walls. But also, putting pictures up on the walls covers up the ugly beige paint. I've spread my military stuff to the kitchen to cover up the nasty green.

Lipgloss. How crazy is it that I enjoy lipgloss? I'm so not girly. But I like that it covers and holds better than a chapstick. I found the ELF brand online for super cheap and then had a credit to the site. They ended up being free and all I had to pay was $.99 shipping for both 2-in-1's (and 2 packs of baby spoons).

Cute boots. Too bad we live in Georgia and boots aren't practical year round. I found the cutest pair at Sears this past winter. Wedge heel, suede, fur around the top, buckles across the laces, and zipped up the side. They were so cute with my leggings. I kind of wish the 90's grunge would come back along with Docs.

Good tennis shoes. I guess I've always underestimated the importance of a good pair of shoes. Or at least keeping up with them. I'm one of those where I buy a pair of shoes and then just keep them. This caught up with me recently. I settled for a cheap pair of shoes when Jason took me shopping. (Let it be known that I'm the one that picked them. He wasn't satisfied with them but paid for them anyways. I just hate shoe shopping so I grabbed them in a hurry.) They fit great for a while. But then I realized just how uncomfortable they'd become and how bad my knees and legs had been hurting. So Jason sent me shoe shopping the other day. I took my time and knew that money wasn't really an issue. Got me a pretty pair of Saucony. I love my new shoes.

How is it already almost the end of April?

I'm not really sure where this year has gone. Already.

I haven't gotten much of anything accomplished that I really should have.

Easter is this coming weekend. I guess we'll go to my aunt's up in Commerce. Not really sure that's what I want to do, but if Jason's working I guess there's not much else to do. At least the girls have cute dresses and cute bunny bags.

We're getting plans together for the beach next month. That'll be fun to head down with some family. I could use a few days of just sitting on the beach.

In about 3 1/2 months Audrey will finally be starting real preschool. I'm just hoping we don't have to pull her back out again. At least this go round we know to just keep working at home after school and on the weekends. We can't let her start slipping again. But at least with this pre-k connected with the school system hopefully they can give us better advice on what to do with her. (She doesn't need to be in pre-k. And she's already shown that she can function in a kindergarten classroom.)

Then comes Audrey's birthday. Again. Already. At least we've started planning. But I guess this year we'll have to consider school friends. Bleh. Hopefully I can get away with just something easy at her school. And then do something for everyone else. Really though, I'd love to just do a Build-A-Bear party for just a few friends with cupcakes and be done with it.

Then it's just a few months until Christmas.

Just when you think the stupidity has ended... (I highly suggest you don't read this)

I guess when your "truth" is based completely off lies... This is what you end up with.

(And the post I deleted was about asking for information from the friends I have who regularly visit Disney for help on how to take *the girls* to Disney next year during *Audrey's* spring break. I didn't realize I had to clear it through Libby before we made any decisions concerning our every day life, money, and schedules. Life sucks, not everyone's a winner, and sometimes things just aren't fair. We have to work around a spring break schedule that revolves around UGA. We have to work around Jason's availability of vacation. And we have to work around the availability of about $2000 that it'll cost for just the 4 of us. But I'm not the bad guy and I won't be bullied.) Nice to know that my family has accepted Jason unconditionally, regardless of how we started out, and knowing how we started out. (And for the record, my post was deleted because Jason didn't want me to have to deal with his mother showing her ass all over my Facebook. It's embarrassing enough as it is the amount of stuff we have to cover. I mean, her response to me saying Russell wasn't going on this trip was "How DARE you? Russell is Jason's 5 year old son." Like that changes anything? I'm sure pulling a kid out of kindergarten for a week doesn't count as excused... And not like his mother would help fund any of his portion or even allow him to go. All of which Libby KNEW when she started this shit.) I'm very proud of Jason sticking up for me. Please note, the 2 people besides Jason and Libby have never met me, never even seen me. All these people have heard as the truth is "poor pitiful me" and how I'm the home-wrecker that apparently destroyed a happy marriage. (Um... Not from what I've heard from anyone who's able to use proper judgement... And much better spelling and grammar than this shows.)

Neither one of you have a clue what Melissa does for Russell. She's bought him clothes, toys books. When he comes over we all play together as a family. No I can't get him as often as I want, I'm working my ass off at a retail job that doesn't have set hours. I haven't had two days off in a row in over a month so before you want to start running your mouth and talking shit about my wife who does try you should get your facts straight.

Not to mention the fact when she bought him four brand new outfits with her money that she sent him home with they got mailed back to us using part of the seven hundred dollars a month that I pay for child support. So ..ugh.....the nerve.

And next time you want to post something in a public forum like facebook why don't you pull your head out of your asses long enough to look in the mirror. The hypocrisy is thick enough to choke a hippo.

Like I said Shanon you have no clue about what you're talking about. Instead, you're just trying to get involved in something that has nothing to do with you. So when you talk about defending your family, who exactly are you defending? We're cousins Shannon. I'm your family. When is the last time you called me or sent me a message? No I don't know you anymore. But I've made the drive to your house.

This has mostly been posted as a way for me to have this for my own records in case it is needed later on. Because if this doesn't stop, I will be taking this to someone who can stop it. So what does this (on top of EVERYTHING ELSE we've had to deal with) fall under? Slander, libel, malice? Because this was posted openly on Facebook for friends, family, bosses, random strangers to see. And it was posted on there with the sole purpose of to get things started.

Photo Contest

Please help the girls out in their Facebook photo contest through L&L Photography based out of Monroe, GA.

First you have to "like" this page. (The "like" button is at the top right by her company name in bold.

http://www.facebook.com/landlphotography

Then you have to "like" this picture. (The "like" is in the line below 6-Audrey right under the picture.)

(You may have to copy and paste. I'm not sure I did the links right. I'm sorry.)

Comments on the pictures don't count. Just "liking" the company doesn't count. All 3 steps have to be taken for the votes to be counted. And you only get 1 vote per album. Amelia is in the "baby" album and Audrey is in the "kid" album. They're not competing directly against each other so you can vote for both of them without your votes being disqualified. People don't have to be local to vote so we're telling people to tell their friends and anyone else.

The voting ends next week but she hasn't said a specific day. We've just been telling people to vote as soon as they get the message so they don't forget.

I'm not 100% certain if you can "unlike" the company immediately and have your vote still count, but they're more than welcome to "unlike" as soon as she posts up that the contest is over and the votes have been counted.

This one's for Jason...

And just to remind everyone... Jason found me.

She don't care about my car
She don't care about my money
And that's real good because I don't got alot to spend
But if I did it wouldn't mean nothin'

She likes me for me
Not because I look like Tyson Beckford
With the charm of Robert Redford
Oozing out my ears
But what she sees
Are my faults and indecisions
My insecure conditions
And the tears upon the pillow that I shed

She don't care about my big screen
Or my collection of DVD's
Things like that just never mattered much to her
Plus she don't watch to much t.v.

And she don't care that I can fly her
To places she ain't never been
But if she really wants to go
I think deep down she knows that
All she has to say is when

She likes me for me
Not because I hang with Leonardo
Or that guy who played in "Fargo"
I think his name is Steve
She's the one for me
And I just can't live without her
My arms belong around her
And I'm so glad I found her once again

And I'm so glad I found her once again
And I'm so glad I found her once again
Gazing at the ceiling
as we entertain our feelings in the dark
The things that we're afraid of are gonna show us
what we're made of in the end

She likes me for me
Not because I sing like Pavarotti
Or because I am such a hottie
I like her for her
Not because she's phat like Cindy Crawford
She has got so much to offer
Why does she waste all her time with me
There must be something there that I don't see

She likes me for me
Not because I'm tough like Dirty Hairy
Make her laugh just like Jim Carrey
Unlike the Cable Guy
But what she sees
Is that I can't live without her
My arms belong around her
And I'm so glad I found her once again
Found her once again
I'm so glad I found her once again
Once again

Just a random Monday

It looks like a toy store threw up in my living room. And it's making me twitchy.

Amelia's birthday toys are still out. All over the place. I've been using her toy basket to block off her escape route to the kitchen. I never thought I would be okay with riding toys in my living room. And now I have 2 in here. And so many toys that make noise! There should be better volume controls on these things. (Are you listening Fisher Price, Playskool, VTech?)

Jason has acquired an XBox 360. Apparently it was having RROD issues. So Jason brings it home, takes it apart, cleans it up, and there we go. But until it's back to where it needs to be performance wise, I have cords and controllers on his little side.

Poor Amelia had her 1 year check up today. 3 shots and a finger stick. And of course Jason has to close today. But he got up and went with us this morning. That really helps. I hate seeing them get shots and I don't handle it well at all. So Jason steps in and helps out on those days.

I can't wait for the girls pictures to be in next week. Now to figure out where to put them! We put pictures up all in the living room and now I think we're going to have to rearrange some. It's such a hard life having cute kids. There's never enough wall space.

Audrey's pictures

2-18-2011

Amelia's birthday pictures

My baby is 1

I'm still not so sure how I feel about this...

Amelia is 1.

She's standing on her own.

She's trying to walk.

She's starting to talk.

I miss my baby. Not that I want to go through the middle of the night feedings and the complete helplessness again...

It's just that she's it. No more to follow. (At least that's the plan.)

Her party went off somewhat smoothly.

We had to invite the hoodlum kids next door. It's rude not to. But what pissed me off is when THEY started inviting people. To MY kid's party. And then when everyone left, they came back and asked for "candy bags." NO.

But Amelia did so good. Even though she missed part of her nap, she was happy and smiling. She had a blast with the smash cake. Until she rubbed icing in her eyes.

I've been so lucky. Every birthday party we've had has had fantastic weather. And yesterday, middle of February, we had 70 degree weather.

It was interesting having a party at my house though. Never done that. They're usually at Mom's. And of course, we still have the nasty green kitchen and bathroom paint (with the oh so lovely coordinating stripes in the kitchen), the torn up floor in the kitchen, the stained up bathroom floor, the rips in the carpet. But that's okay. Not like we caused that. They just haven't gotten around to ripping apart our house yet. And Jason got to show off his toys. So I know he loved that.

Amelia got some pretty good stuff. Push toys, riding toys, books, clothes, sunglasses...

I'm so excited so many people drove all the way out. We did miss our friends who weren't able to make it. But with so much crud going around, it's okay. We understand and would rather the crud stay there than migrate to us.

I think he's lost his mind...

So Jason and I have had a somewhat rocky past. No denying that. So when he decided to start buying me gifts for Valentine's Day this year, he decided that he had lots of years he had to make up for. (His words.)

Our first year, he had to work so he brought home beer and take-out Applebee's because by the time he got off work Audrey was asleep.

The next, we were split up briefly. (So I went out to dinner with Jennifer!)

The next (last year), I really don't remember. Give me a break. It was 4 days before Amelia was born. And it had snowed. I had lots of other things on my mind. I do remember we spent part of the day with Rickey and Donnie. (Only because I have pictures of Jason, Audrey, and Rickey playing in the snow.)

This year I have ended up with:
Socks
Anti-stress wrap
White pearl necklace
Silver and marcasite necklace
...and a set of colored pearls. Necklace, bracelet, and earrings.

On top of just getting a new car, new tv, and a new dining room table (that will be delivered tomorrow!!).

I love him dearly. But he's lost his mind. I don't need all that! Especially since I didn't think we were really doing anything.

But what a guy. I'm not exactly complaining though. I know I'm damn lucky. And he told me he does NOT buy jewelry...

Valentine's Day!

So I got my Valentine's Day presents early.

First off, it really surprised me. I wasn't expecting much of anything. Jason has to work. I just got a new car. We just got a new tv and accessories (I guess that's what you call it. I call it lots of crap with way too many remotes. 4 remotes are required to watch tv now.). We ordered a new dining room table. With all that, how can I really rightfully expect anything.

Second, Jason always told me "I don't buy jewelry." Please remember that for our anniversary/Mother's Day I got a diamond necklace.

Third, he went through the hassle of getting his friend to order one of my presents so I wouldn't find it. Which means he planned this out and put thought into it.

I got:
Spa socks with shea and peppermint
Anti-stress wrap with lavender and chamomile that can go in the microwave
Pearl necklace
Silver and marcasite heart necklace

And he "doesn't buy jewelry"... Just goes to show who's the important one...

Oh. And here's another shocking thing. He bought Audrey clothes! And they fit! (She's built like me so she's hard to buy for.)

Amelia got toys... Kind of hard to buy "special" gifts for a 1 year old. As long as they have lights and make noise, she's happy.

Playing Catch Up

So I'm really behind in all of this. I left off with Audrey starting school. Months ago.

Audrey started school. We had a love/hate relationship with it. But after months of it turning into me paying for 3 hours a day of baby-sitting, we're back to home schooling. They never went back to bump her up even though they said they were going to and that she was perfectly qualified to be in the upper class.

Amelia started crawling. Jason had me a birthday cake specially made. We were sitting in the floor eating it and Amelia acted like she wanted some. So I told her to come over and I'd give her a bite. Even at 6 months old, she knew there was nothing wrong with some chocolate. (I did give her a very tiny bite. Shhhh...)

September was pretty uneventful. I think. At least nothing that I can remember. I'll come back to it if I do.

October...

Audrey's birthday party. Wow. So year before we invited EVERYONE. No one showed up. So we decided to limit it to just a few kids that Audrey picked. And it pissed EVERYONE off. Do people have nothing better to do? It was a cute theme though. Olivia the Piglet. How can you not love Olivia? Justin and his girlfriend came out. Interesting. Audrey was paranoid for about a month after they left. And I'll leave it at that.

I got to upgrade my phone. This is a huge deal if you know the issues I've had with phones. Jason gave me his upgrade (yea Jason!) and he got me the Epic 4G. How long now and I still don't know how to use parts of it? But it's made life much easier on all of us. I'm especially loving the apps for kids and the free books.

My mom got some free tickets to the Gwinnett Gladiators. The girls and I headed down for a game. Amelia LOVED it. But so far we've discovered that she, and Audrey, love all sports.

Halloween was fun. We hung out the night before with some of Jason's family for chili and video games and letting Audrey and her cousin play. Halloween itself was spent at my parent's church for Trunk or Treat. Audrey was a ladybug ballerina and Amelia was Tigger. Face painting, hay rides, and Amanda and her boys came out.

For November...

We got to move. Jason's friends bought some properties and we got to move in to the townhouse. Jason's maintenance man. Not a bad place. 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, laundry room, huge kitchen/dining room. 1700+ sq. ft. The kitchen is painted a horrible green. With darker green stripes. And the tile in the kitchen has definitely seen better days (decades?). Eventually they'll get to that. At least it's just cosmetic and I can imagine it looking differently.

Thanksgiving came and went. Once again, we hung out at Jason's family's. Amelia ate her weight in Thanksgiving dinner.

Black Friday!! Mom came up and we went shopping. Shopping, shopping, shopping. And we were back home around 9 am. But I got pretty much everything done that day. Scored some major deals.

December was a long month. I thought it would never end.

Jason's dad died. I'm not sure it's still even really hit any of us. Poor Audrey though. Rickey was her buddy. And he was the first person I met out of Jason's family that accepted me from day 1. And that was probably July or August of 2007. Fantastic man. You really couldn't help but like him.

Met Jason's mother.

Audrey started reading on her own. Like books. With more words than pictures.

Christmas season was eventful.

We took all 3 kids to Jasper for the Berry Party. I love that family.

Christmas Eve was spent at Grandma Gloria's. Audrey and Amelia got those ever so precious Pillow Pets. Audrey's is the Lady Bug and Amelia's is a Bumble Bee. Amelia will not sleep unless she sleeps on it.

Christmas Day... Morning at home opening presents. Afternoon at Karla's opening presents. Night at my parent's opening presents. Audrey spent almost a week with them. It did snow Christmas Day. Pretty freakin' cool.

New Year's Eve we were old people and stayed home. I have no idea of what even happened. That's how uneventful it was.

January came. And it snowed. We had so much snow! We actually got snowed in for a bit. Thank goodness Jason has the Trooper.

That's pretty much all I can think of for January.

And now we're in February.

We've updated lots of stuff around the house. We finally have a tv that Jason's proud of and thrilled to have. And that we can watch "darker" shows on and be able to see what's going on. Jason put most of my pictures on the walls. We do still have to put the pictures up the stairs. But the living room and area before the kitchen is a good start. It's starting to really feel like home.

We sold the van. It went to a good family who really needs it.

I made a huge dent in the boxes that are stored in the dining room.

We bought me a Chrysler Pacifica Touring. This is a nicer car than I probably thought I'd ever have. It's used but is in great shape. Jason is so proud of it and to have me drive it. And that means so much. And it's also nice to know that he trusts me enough to let me have something like this. It really is such a cool car. And you can definitely see that Mercedes had a hand in it. Makes me dislike GM even more.

And now we're to today.

We're getting ready for Amelia's first birthday. Her party is on the 19th and it's Pooh themed. I'm a little sad. But I can't wait.

Audrey is getting signed up for real GA Pre-K. The school is fantastic. Literacy coaches and more. We're also putting her into spring soccer. Once school starts, she'll also be starting ballet. I'm so thankful she has Jason as an influence.

Hopefully I can remember how to do pictures on here and I'll just do a post of highlights from the past few months to go with this one.

Back to school time

So it's back to school for everyone but us. We start next Monday.

I'm amazed at how many people are so upset over their children starting school. Especially the ones who have had their kids in daycare.

Do you not want your children to grow up? To become educated members of society?

But I especially don't understand the issue with the daycare kids. It's not like they've been with you all day anyways.

I guess in the end I just give Audrey too much credit.

But I know we are counting down to Monday here.
